There are certain myths and legends that you struggle to believe but perhaps started in distant ancient history; Knights of the round table, Nessie. And Dave Carrier owning a wallet and paying his subs fell into that misty ancient past that was becoming a hushed whisper in dark corners of bars. But no ! It is real !
