I don’t do mug-leaflet but had been thinking a similar thought. Off to night nav shortly but will see whether the weather clerk changes his mind again, or if they stick to the same story tomorrow

Yes Linda I can give lifts to you and Marjan.
Linda if you can walk up past the hospital on the opposite (right hand) side of the road then you’ll come to the end of Vyner Street which is blocked by bollards. I can park on the Vyner Street side of the bollards and wait for you. Say 4.45 ?
Marjan you cannot leave your car at Vyner Street for the evening as its residents parking so you could either come to our house in Heworth (15 mins from Heslington) or we can arrange an out-of-town RV on the A19

    Hi All,

We are intending to go out Thursday night and do the night walk and navigation. The weather forecast is reasonable — cloudy, with a wind of 23mph from the SW. Temperature about 2 degrees, which will feel like -4 in the wind, 10% chance of a little shower. So very mountain-like. !
    See http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/public/weather/forecast/gcxj5m5h0#?fcTime=1488412800

So wrap up warm, with flask, map and compass.

We have moved the venue to make travel a bit easier from Leeds and Harrogate. So the RV will be the “Sheep Wash” car park at SE 468992
This is 2.25 km north of the T-junction in Osmotherley, immediately north of Cod Beck Reservoir.

The map required is of course OL26, North York Moors West area, scale 1:25000.

We’ll aim to finish for 10pm, so home by 11-ish or 11.30 if we stand in need of “apres-nav.”

    See ya

Just watched Countryfile & it predicts a low over Scotland on Tuesday with cold weather. The LP shuffles off eastwards on Wednesday and then new systems arrive with winds southwesterly backing south then southeasterly by Friday with warmer air from the south. So the jury may be out just yet.
I have done my best to engender colder weather (through Sod’s Law) by changing from winter tyres to summer ones today (owing to a screw in the former). However the effect of this can not be guaranteed.
