The date for the First Aid was finally agreed as 10 – 11 February 2024. The Instructor is booked. There are two places left, if anybody has any further interest/availability. These last places will be circulated to other Clubs etc from late September. Andrew

Here’s an update to say that we now have 7 names in the frame and we’re choosing a weekend for the course to run in October/November.

It’s seriously a half-price bargain, for something an outdoor enthusiast should not be without. The more the merrier, so before we offer places outwith the Club, for anyone who has not got in-date knowledge of what to do if their mate comes a cropper, please consider joining at : first aid 2023 https://whenavailable.com/event/dFtXQkbSMen5crMN8

    thanks

As to Thursday 13th climbing, it is Great Yorkshire Show this week, during which the Harrogate area normally sees very heavy traffic. Steve Green thus suggested Scugdale, which seems the best option. ANDREW

Almost there ? This thread has four names :- Ewart / Wes / Jenny /Angela. I can join myself as I only did a stopgap thing in early 2022.
Additionally, I recollect Richard H responded on Whatsapp (though I cannot find that just now). So that would make 6.

If all 6 are in, we just need one more from York MC who is willing to fill a damp autumn weekend with some interesting and fun stuff which just might be oh so useful one time.

Can we make the final move ?

No problem with that ! I don’t think we have ever (since 2008) had the course as early as September.
My usual process is to canvas for sufficient interested names (roll up ! Roll up !!) and when we get there, we’ll have a Doodle Poll to find an autumn weekend to suit everyone.

I will be away for 4 weeks in August/September on different trips, so with the instructor on stand-by, I look for names in midsummer to set the thing up.

It’s a practical and informal instruction course which doesn’t make any big demands or require previous experience, but which could be of inestimable value.
