    HAW – HAW- HAW
    Poring over map of the “nearer”: Dales, I have spotted some tops where I have never been. From the road end just beyond Slipstone Crag, it is possible to visit Little Haw, Great Haw (542 m) and South Haw…… starting from (wait for it) High Ho. (GR 120805 on OS 99 / Ol 30 11km west of Masham)
    “Undiscovered Scotland” it is definitely not, but in a spirit of exploration and levity, might be an alternative to the well-trodden alternatives. About 12 KM with 400 metres ascent.
    Any other ideas?

    nearby points of interest include the Black Bull in Masham, which is the Black Sheep brewery tap. I mention this purely from academic interest.

    Angela is collecting me (from Heworth) at 8.30 for our shorter Dales day.
    I know for a fact that her car has more than 2 seats…..
    Peri, not sure if you follow these points of academic interest at weekends but you could snooze on Black Sheep all the way home……
