BlockedMWIS has been updated – outlook is:
Cold conditions will persist across all mountain areas for 5 to 8 days (models from most centres suggesting a return to milder
conditions will not now come in until early next week). Most terrain will become frozen, and there will be further snowfall.
Toward next weekend, very likely a couple of fine clear days before winds strengthen ahead of the slow advance of a thaw.I’d be happy with that area, with options on the hills you mentioned, plus Glencoe not that far away. I also wondered about skiing up Ben Hairy-arse too…
Crianlarich YHA has space, or we could try By The Way at Tyndrum. Given the weather outlook I think accommodation will book up pretty quickly.

BlockedAny thoughts on location (Dave or anyone else)? Maria and I are intending to check MWIS & met office forecasts when they update later today, and assuming they look promising, book some accommodation for Friday & Saturday nights. Maybe Fort William? If we do a climb on the Cobbler on Friday then we’ll potentially do a ski tour up Chno Dearg & Stob Coire Sgriodain on Saturday, or if conditions are more suited to climbing then maybe we’ll do something on the Ben instead.

BlockedCan’t do that weekend (meal out in York on Saturday & fell race in the Peak on Sunday), but I would be keen to have a weekend in Scotland at some point before xmas. 19th/20th December looks the most likely for me, if the weather plays ball – anyone else interested?

BlockedMaria and I are probably heading to scugdale in the morning, then going for a run along the Cleveland way. Leaving York 10ish.
Mike
BlockedWell, I am incredibly refined.
