Owing to popular demand the second winter weekend trip for 2024 is booked and confirmed. There are 12 places, 3 rooms of 4, in Aviemore Hostel arriving on Friday the 15th to check out on Sunday the 17th of March. At the moment the hostel has some beds or rooms available should additional members decide to join the trip or extend their weekend. I have asked but unfortunately we cannot modify our booking to upgrade to the 3 nights for 2 deal which has recently been announced.

The cost for the weekend is £60 and 12 members have already paid for their place.

If anyone else is interested in joining the weekend please let me know and I will put you on the reserve list.

There is a mix of experience in our group. On both days I am happy to lead a group of novices around an appropriate, safe route to gain an insight into the Scottish winter environment. The weekend is not a training course but to get the most enjoyment from the weekend any newcomer should be sufficiently equipped and have studied something about winter mountaineering technique. There are links to videos and guides on the notices page of the website but feel free to ask if you are unsure about anything.

Transport to Aviemore is easiest by car and best shared wherever possible. I will be in Newcastle on Thursday evening and will set off from there. I’m happy to consider extending my weekend in Aviemore and can offer lifts back. A few weeks before the trip I will create a WhatsApp group so arrangements can be fine tuned.

On the Saturday evening I will reserve a big table for us all at the local Indian Restaurant. Details will be posted nearer the time but if you’re not interested please let me know. The hostel is self-catering so you will need food for breakfasts, other meals and for the hill. More information about Aviemore hostel can be found here – https://www.hostellingscotland.org.uk/hostels/aviemore/ . There is a Tesco supermarket in Aviemore.

    Cheers!

    Hi Dave

Very late to this but would be keen to be added to the reserve list.

I can always kip in the van if tight for numbers and offer lifts too/from etc…

    Sounds great thanks Dave

I would love to join the novices group if possible. By both days do you mean Fri and sat or sat and sun?
    Thanks again

    Rose
