Ok so the title of the weekend is a bit cheesey, but it’s not my fault. Honest.
The club is pleased to announce that the winter Warm up Weekend will be based at the White Horse Bunkhouse in Scales, nr Threlkeld. This is handy for travel, neon right on the A66, and also for Sharp Edge and the potential winter climbing on and around blencathra.
This should give us a bit of variety should the weather not be ideal.
I’ve booked 2 dorms for the time being – a 6 and a 4,for Friday 2nd and Saturday 3rd. There is more space available if we have more interest, but it will be dependent on availability. The cost is £12/person/night.
If you want to come, please post a reply on the forum and pay your dues in the usual way to the club.
Oh, and the White Horse Inn is nearby for food and drink. Washing and cooking facilities are also available in the small kitchen area.
The location is such that this trip isn’t just open to hardcore winter climbers, but you should appreciate that the main intention of the weekend is to provide practice for those of that particular bent, so some winter experience would be essential for you to get the most out of the weekend.
Hope to see some of you there.
    All the best
    Neil

Can we assume this is the first weekend in Feb or March?

As a reminder, would anyone who would like to join the winter warm-up weekend in the lakes on the first week in Feb please confirm back on this thread as soon as you can.
As a reminder we have 10 places. The weekend should be a great get-together and a good opportunity to do some winter stuff together prior to the Scottish winter weekend in March. A variety of activities and locations should be open to us, dependent on weather conditions. We’ll aim to have a bit of a planning session in the Knavesmire next Thursday.
    Neil
