Dave, Simon and I discussed an expedition of a different nature for Saturday afternoon and evening. The objective is simple: to view the England Vs Wales 6 Nations Rugby match from the relative safety of the Knavesmire Pub (15.30 rendezvous – for a 16.00 kickoff) followed after the match (say around 18.00) by a daring and audacious traverse of York’s Notorious South Bank!
Final route is yet to be decided but it looks like it could be a long hard slog up the North face of Bishy Road, (running belays at the winning Post), with a brief bivouac at the infamous “Swan’s Nest”, Teetering up the Nunnery Lane Exit Cracks (hammer a couple of pegs in the Trafalgar Bay maybe), Then a long and exposed layback to the Volly Arms with the intention of reaching the summit of An Mhadaidh (The Fox) later in the evening.

Anyone interested in embarking on this reckless and daredevil venture please do join us!

    Matthew
