After limping along through the winter, our old Fox is looking very pale and wan, and last night couldn’t even supply a packet of crisps. The string of temporary managers has not helped, and our rear room has been invaded by a telly, which Mr Grumpy seems to want to keep switched on. We learnt last night that the pub is to close on 6th April for a few weeks to be redecorated etc etc. Maybe it will be alright when it re-opens. (I think it is a Listed Building so I hope they wouldn’t be allowed to gut the interior).
Anyway, pub talk last night seemed in favour of a switch to the Volunteer Arms (just off the Iron Bridge)…… at least pro. tem.
I’ll be on holiday from next week till 30th March, so I thought I’d just post this up to spread a discussion as to who agrees to Volunteer.

The Volunteer Arms seems the best option. Decent beer, good atmosphere, and apparently there is parking at the nearby church (and they sell crisps!). There seemed to be a consensus last night, so I will update the website.

We could congregate in the area by the furthest left end of the bar.

Sounds like a good idea to me! The atmosphere in the Fox last night just wasn’t the same šŸ™

OK looks like a plan for tonight after Harrogate Wall.
