First things first. This will be the first Thursday in the month (hasn’t it come round quickly ??) and so it’s Knavesmire Night. So whatever you do, why not turn up at our York pub and tell others about it.

There is daylight till about 8.10. As the forecast is dry, and since I will be in Horsforth in the afternoon, my daughter and I are planning to get to an outdoor crag for 5.00 pm for what might be our last outdoor evening this year. (Next week she’ll be working and I’ll be in Wales).

Probably Almscliff for the shortest journey. (I know thats second week running).
No doubt others with work commitments will go to the Wall.

With the end of school holidays and the coming of Autumn, thoughts might turn to day trips to scramble in the Lakes or stride across the Dales. The Knavesmire has witnessed many seminal discussions about who would like to do what !!. Hope to see you there

Last night was our second “Knavesmire Night” following Thursday 5th August and I thought it worked really well. Although quite a number of members are away this week, the Knavesmire brought together folk who had climbed and walked at different locations, or not at all, plus it was a pleasure to see Linda again after some 2 years. I imagine Linda saw the Knavesmire Night on the website as she was not (until now) in the WhatsApp group. A bubbling discussion included many plans and aspirations to sow the seeds of future trips. So this was meeting all of its objectives and I hope we can continue to support a monthly York pub night in coming months.
