Nathan is the Chief of Whatsapp, so no doubt he will see this and add you, Adam. The normal form for Thursday evenings has been to nominate a crag on the Forum (usually Scugdale/ Slipstones / Almscliff / Brimham ). and maybe arrange lifts. Day trips and weekends are most commonly arranged “ad hoc”.

After climbing on Thursdays, it was the custom for decades (literally) to adjourn to the pub in York. This was a valuable time for people to chat and make future plans, joined perhaps by folk who had not been out that evening. However in recent years attendances at the Knavesmire were low, as people have simply gone home. In the winter of 2019-20 we got more attendance by trying pubs local to Harrogate Wall, and intended to try others local to the outdoor venues. So this question will crop up again as Thursdays resume.

On the one hand, if 12 or so have just been climbing, it’s easy to slip into a local pub for a swift one, and helpful for Members who don’t live in York. Conversely, a prescence in the city makes us accessible to non-climbers, social climbers, and prospective new members. A dilemma.

Hi all. Unfortunately the weather forecast has cast a shadow over our planned outdoor activities. On Thursday the 20th some of us are heading to Harrogate climbing wall. I will be there at about 6:30pm. More information and guidelines for covid is on their website here https://parthianclimbing.com/harrogate/ . Outdoor climbing will be back on the menu for the 27th.

Also, owing to the weekend weather forecast the day at the Wainstones is delayed one week until the Bank Holiday Monday the 31st of May. With luck a full day of sunshine for anyone wishing to walk, climb and socialise. There are several very good walking routes of 5 to 10 miles in the area as well as plenty of options for climbing at a sensible grade.

Hopefully we’ll see some of you at Harrogate on Thursday but if not some time soon after.

    Cheers, Dave M

    Hi.

Just to let you know that I will not be able to make Thursday at Harrogate climbing wall. I am available next week though and keen to climb outdoors Bank Holiday weekend.

Please could I be added to the WhattsApp group when you have a spare moment?

    Thanks

    Nina

    Hi All

I can’t make bank holiday weekend due to family duties, hopefully it’ll be better weather for you all and I’ll catch up with you next time.

Nina, I’ve emailed you regarding the WhatsApp Group, speak soon.

    Enjoy.

Hello, I’ll be at Harrogate wall tomorrow eve. Looks like I haven’t climbed since February 27, 2020 – could be a struggle!

    Aaron.
