I’m looking to get some night navigation sessions in over the next few weeks – I need the practice. If anybody wishes to join me, they would be more than welcome!

For the first one, I’m planning to go to Scarth Wood Moor (at the western end of the North York Moors, about 3km up the road from Osmotherley) on Wednesday 11th January, probably getting there about 7pm and spending a couple of hours trying to work out where I am.

If you want to come that would be great – you’ll need a map (LR 93 Middlesbrough, Darlington & Hartlepool), a compass, a headtorch and whatever else you want to stay warm and dry on the moors.

I’m sure that there’ll be a pub in Ostmotherley to warm us up afterwards – the Three Tuns, the Queen Catherine and the Golden Lion all look nice…

Hi Giles – I need to do some night nav practice as have my ML assessment coming up. Let me see if I can make 11th as will need to juggle childcare. Do you have any other dates in mind?

At the moment, I’m just seeing how I go! The next one I’m looking at is probably going to be Wednesday 25th January. More than happy to have company whenever and wherever we go.

Regarding the one on the 11th January, where I want to go is actually right on the border of three maps…not my best choice. The other two are LRs 99 and 100 – I’ve bought them and will be happy to share.

Hi Giles, I would be up for a bit of night time nav. I love getting lost on the moors!
    Cheers

I’d be interested in joining too, not sure if I can make the 11th yet but hopefully!
