A local York adventure travel company, Lost Earth Adventures, is holding an abseiling fundraiser at Stanage Edge near Hathersage in the Peak District on 14th June to raise money for the relief effort in Nepal.
The attempt will be to collectively abseil the height of Kathmandu (1440m) over the course of the day with as many participants as possible. On hand to teach climbing as part of the event is the world famous rock climber Jonny Dawes, one of the most talented and influential British rock climbers of all time. Jonny has been a successful climbing coach since 1994.
In order to attend the event, Lost Earth Adventures are asking for a minimum £50 donation per person. This will need to be submitted via their Share the Load Foundation (their not for profit organisation) page at the point of registering. 45 minute time slots will be available throughout the day and participants will be able to abseil as many times as possible within this period.
Goodie Bags will be distributed on the day and there will also be a silent auction for some top climbing equipment.
100% of the donations will go directly towards the relief effort in Nepal, reaching vulnerable and remote mountain villages and providing safe drinking water, food and shelter as well as rebuilding the school in Baluwa, Gorkha. Lost Earth Adventures, their guides and Jonny Dawes will be donating their time on the day of the fundraising event and any administration costs will be covered by Lost Earth Adventures.

The event will take place from 10am to 5pm, the meeting point is Hooks Car Park, Hathersage in Derbyshire. The minimum age for participants is seven, children under 16 years must be accompanied by an adult.
