I’ve booked a bunkhouse for the weekend of Friday 23rd of September to Sunday the 25th.
Initial booking is for 13 beds although if we make a quick response and have more than 13 interested members we can have the place to ourselves which includes an additional 7 bunk room and at reduced cost.
This will be a great opportunity to get even more out of what’s been a brilliant summer. The weekend is open to all club members whether walking, climbing, mountain biking, fell running or cruising on the Ullswater Steamer.
We have used this bunkhouse before and it’s in a brilliant location just uphill from Glenridding at the foot of Helvellyn. Food and drink last time was taken in the Travellers Rest and down in Glenridding at the Ramblers Bar. The bunkhouse has an electric hob, fridge, toaster and kettle so eating in is an option. The breakfast van which normally attends the site will probably be around in the mornings although I will check and confirm nearer to the time.
The cost for up to 13 people is £30 for two nights and if we have more the cost will come down. The maximum number is 20. More details will follow when I can gauge the response and we can then ask for a financial commitment from members.
In the meantime, can you let me know if you’re interested in coming and if you’re happy to drive and share lifts. I will be driving, will be departing early if possible and happy to offer lifts. Please respond by Thursday the 25th so I can confirm my booking.
