Hi all
(better late than never ;)) It’s that time of year again…
Maybe you’ve coming to the end of a glorious sunny Saturday at Scugdale, or half-way up Cairn Gorm and the weather is starting to get a bit hairy… then your mate takes a fall and ends up a bit worse for wear. You look at your phone and signal is a bit patchy. What do you do next?
Sooner or later, if you spend time in the mountains, you may need to manage a casualty or apply some first aid. The members of the club have encountered a number of emergency situations over the years. Help can take some time to arrive.
The Club is able to book an Instructor directly, and for years we’ve been able to get First Aid Training for only 50% or 60% of the normal cost to an individual. (~£75). For this you get a 2-day course in York over a weekend in the autumn, and a Certificate of Rescue Emergency Care Level 2 which is the basic level of first aid for Summer or Winter MLC, also RCI and I believe other sports.
We begin by asking for expressions of interest. Once enough folk are “possibles” we’ll agree the best autumn weekend to run the course.
So for up-to-date training (just in case something comes unstuck) at a bargain cost, please let me know your interest and we will pull together the 2024 course.
Courses can typically cost £120 or more, and unless one is available locally, there could be travel plus accommodation on top, so this is a bit of a bargain!
Please let me know if you’re interested in the next 2 weeks (by 8th July). We need a minimum of 7 people to make the course a go-er.
either reply here, or drop me a message via Whatsapp. Cheers!
