If this isn’t allowed, let me know and I’ll remove it.

I received an email from the BMC advertising a winter skills lecture. Face to face in London or Manchester but also online as well.

Thought it might be useful for those thinking of taking to the hills for the first time in winter.

You can join as non-BMC members but I’m assuming we have membership through the club.

Thanks Paul. So just to clarify, York MC is a Club affiliated to the BMC and I think all York Members will have received the BMC circular.
It’s worthy of note, that the great bulk of our membership cost is passed on to the BMC as affiliation fees. Out of our £30 subs, somthing like £23 goes to the BMC and the York club runs on around £7 per person p.a.

One of the chief benefits of BMC affiliation is accident insurance. The topic was cruelly highlighted about 3 years ago when an affiliated club was liable for £5 million after an accident at a climbing wall. Non-members will not have BMC insurance backing, of course, unless they are individual BMC members.
