is anyone planning to leave York later in the day – i.e. for the evening (not daytime) activities only?

I’m sorry I’ll have to drop out, cold and inflamed cartilage. Have fun and stay warm!

I’m leaving tomorrow morning from York and can offer a lift. Do we plan to stop for pub lunch during the walk or should I bring some packed lunch?

If I have understood matters aright, I think the plan is to amble along the disused rail bed around the head of Rosedale to the old kilns on the east side, before dropping down to Rosedale Village. A quick peep at OL26 suggests that we will walk about 10km before encountering any refreshment or retail opportunities. Much more can be done on a few sips of water, of course, but I suspect many folk will have a wee snack with them.
Lunchtime TV says the weather will be mild, dull and cloudy but without much in the way of rain or wind

Hats off to all who joined this day for making such an impressive turnout !
Jen has sent me a nice group photo (taken, I think, by John) which now graces the end of the slideshow on our home page
