    Be good to see you John. I’ll be at the car park by about 9.30. My other half has been engaged elsewhere with an ill relative so I’m now on my own today. Looks like it should be a great day for climbing.

    Hi all. Unfortunately the weather forecast has cast a shadow over our planned outdoor activities. On Thursday the 20th some of us are heading to Harrogate climbing wall. I will be there at about 6:30pm. More information and guidelines for covid is on their website here https://parthianclimbing.com/harrogate/ . Outdoor climbing will be back on the menu for the 27th.

    Also, owing to the weekend weather forecast the day at the Wainstones is delayed one week until the Bank Holiday Monday the 31st of May. With luck a full day of sunshine for anyone wishing to walk, climb and socialise. There are several very good walking routes of 5 to 10 miles in the area as well as plenty of options for climbing at a sensible grade.

    Hopefully we’ll see some of you at Harrogate on Thursday but if not some time soon after.

    First, the good news. The weather forecast for Cumbria couldn’t be better for a walk with a cold night out on the fells. The bad news is that we can’t go there due to the tier 4 restriction. Ah well, we’ll see how things go over the next few months.

    Yesterday Nathan and I had a look around the northern end of Cropton Forest. The northern area of the forest is relatively remote and quiet with a lot of tree felling underway. There are decent tracks around the forest, perfect for cycling or easy walking. We didn’t stay out overnight due to another commitment today.

    Best wishes to everyone for the new year. Hopefully the covid pandemic will be drawn to a close and all will be well once more. Maybe Almscliff in the summer?

    I’ve been in touch with Seatoller Farm Campsite which is also open but fully booked. As a point of interest they now have a food barn and serve breakfast from 8am to 1pm and then bake pizzas in their wood fired oven from 4pm to 8pm. They have a facebook page to update their menu. Very handy for the National Trust car park. Also, due to covid limitations in the NT car park Seatoller House B and B has created additional car parking spaces and charge about £5 per day.

    Hi all. My personal intention is not to climb until there is a more tangible shift away from the wary mood of the vast majority of the general public. At the moment we may be able to do more activities than a week ago, however, anyone making an apparently unnecessary or flippant excursion into the public domain especially if it is associated with risk may be frowned upon by many who are justifiably terrified of being infected by this virus. I am missing the outdoors but am lucky to have lots of things to keep me busy at home, away from risk of spreading the virus. I only venture outside for substantially good reason and with sensible precautions to keep myself and everyone else as safe as possible, whether they voted to leave, remain or sat on the fence.
