In January four of us are heading across to Cogne, northern Italy for four days of ice climbing. The area has plentiful, reliable water-ice and mixed climbing of various grades and pitches within a short walk from the town.
Myself, Paul M, Phil H and Derek W are going on the trip and are already paid up.
We fly with Ryanair from Manchester to Milan Malpensa. Outbound on Tuesday the 20th of January 2026, returning on Sunday the 25th. It’s about a 3 hour drive in our hire car to the accommodation in Lillaz. The apartment for four was booked through Booking.com.
The duration of the trip gives us four full days of climbing. The total cost for flights, car and accommodation will be in the region of £450-£500 each.
It would be great if others are interested in joining up with us and can get together as an additional group. If you’d like to come please get in touch and I’ll share more details about our plans. Novice ice-climbers will require equipment and can book a local instructor or guide.
While we’re there I’ll be checking the place out for a possible trip again the following year.
Cheers!
