A fresh day greeted me this morning, with some form of spontaneous combustion seemingly occurring overnight. So here’s a thread to discuss motions and arrangements for the AGM. (Only)
My motion for the AGM is below. Sorry if its boring, I don’t enjoy this stuff either but needs must.
We need to have some precise proposal at the AGM. It might be agreed, disagreed, or alternatives found, but without this starting point the AGM will become unfocussed.

    (i) The club shall adopt a constitution based on the BMC template
(ii) The Committee shall be mandated to sign a constitution into being no later than Good Friday. If that does not occur, then an EGM may be called as per BMC model and the EGM will sign the constitution
(iii) The options at 4.4, 4.5, 4.8 and 5.6 will be the subject of a canvass of the whole paid-up membership in January. The AGM should nominate a returning officer to receive opinions and the Committee should settle the options in accordance with the best consensus, and publish the returns and the decision.
(iv) Minor details not in the BMC form should go into the Club Rules.

As I said yesterday, it may be best to elect a committee of 6 to serve for one year. Titles, badges and gold braid can be shared out amongst themselves, and adjusted in the light of the final decisions around point 4.4 Because it is the Committee as a whole which is entrusted with the governance of the Club, individual functions need not be a primary focus.

From experience in other organisations, one thing I would suggest we want to avoid is all the committee member’s terms of office coming to an end at the same time. Much better if they can be staggered.
