    Hi All,

On Thursday night February 7th, the club is hosting a winter kit night at the Knavesmire pub. We’ll be talking about winter kit, discussing plans, and (of course) reminiscing. Several members are bringing winter kit items including: ice axes, crampons, technical boots, and avalanche safety equipment. This is a great opportunity for members of all skill levels to learn about kit and for those new to winter to ask any questions. Anyone is free to bring kit they’d like to discuss or show off.

Importantly, there will also be FOOD provided. Prior to meeting, several members have already mentioned heading to the Red Goat and to Energise to get their “pump” on.

Details: 8:30pm at the Knavesmire Pub (back room) on Thursday 7 February.

    See you there!

A great opportunity to look at what is involved in winter stuff. The old saying “No such thing as winter walking and winter climbing, only winter mountaineering” references the extra skill sets around navigation, avalanche awareness, equipment and techniques such as self-arrest which can be critical in the winter mountains. Excellent chance to talk through stuff before getting out this winter.

Thank you Andrew for organising this, it is a great idea and opportunity to ask questions and learn through more experienced members and also for some maybe seeing some of the kit for the first time.

Looking forward to it, count me in!

    Thank you again.
