Thought I should post some details for all the folk planning on joining me in the Lakes in under two weeks time, so here it is:
When: Friday 10th and Saturday 11th April 2015 (staying extra night on Thursday).
Where: Carlisle Mountaineering Club Hut (Newlands valley, Cumbria). Grid Ref
NY 229176 (Landranger map 89).
How (to get there): A66 towards Keswick, turn left after Keswick sign posted for ‘Grange/Portinscale/Newlands Valley/Marina’, past The Farmers Inn, right turn at end of Portinscale village to Grange (4m)/Newlands Valley, past Swinside Inn towards Stair, head towards Littletown, turn left just after Littletown Farm Guest House and through a 5-bar gate (no key required), follow un-surfaced track for c. 1m to hut. (ALTERNATIVE ROUTE: Off A66 at Braithwaite, follow signs for Littletown, then as above.)
Parking: At hut (although last in first out), or roadside if you don’t want to get sandwiched in and walk for 1m.
Accommodation: “Posh Bothy”, therefore sleeping bag/pillow, no electric, flushing toilet, gas cooker, gas lighting, cooking utensils provided, bring firewood for log-burner.
Payment: Through club secretary (Maria); £8pppn.
