Beautifully situated in the remote Newlands Valley, yet thirty minutes drive from Keswick, at O.S. Grid Ref. NY 229 177. Reached by driving or walking the last mile along an unsurfaced track, the hut sleeps 16 and has gas cookers and lighting.
One of the most attractive features is the coke pot-bellied stove. Cold water supply is straight from the fells above the hut & needs to be treated before drinking, this also supplies a flushing toilet. Facilities are both basic and appreciated by those wishing to get away from it all.
A great opportunity once again, to get together for a fantastic weekend in beautiful surroundings, all activities and abilities catered for, from climbing to mountain biking or just a leisurely walk.

    Thanks Steve.

Sounds great Steve, as discussed you think a van can get up there but not a car ? PJ and I will be coming.
Also what are the payment details ?

    Cheers

We’ve had cars there before but I would suggest that those with a very low ground clearance might be best left at the road.
I’m hoping to make this weekend.

Cheers Richard for advising about low clearance vehicles.
Payment details are £10.00 per person per night.
If you just want to stay one night that’s fine as we are only charged for the nights you stay.
Payments made by the usual method

I have a commitment elsewhere on the Sunday, but plan to stay both Friday night and Saturday night.
I have had a car along to this hut on two previous trips. The instructions said to turn left through a 5-barred gate. Dolly and I found a gate, and ran into difficulties heading up the mountainside. This first gate does NOT have 5 bars. But if you have an eye for gates, and understand the importance of bars, then there is no problem, and one can relish the precision of language.
