Club Trip Early May - Friday 4 – Monday 7 May 2012 – Isle of Skye Scotland
York Mountaineering Club will be having its annual early May trip to the Romantic Isle of Skye for 2012. This continues the popular early May trip to the Scottish Islands of Rum, Jura and Arran. The cost is £60 per person for the 3 nights self catering.
We have booked a total of 16 places at the Sligachan Bunk House www.sligachan.co.uk, but have an option to book the further 4 places. The accommodation has a capacity of 20 people max. The bunk house has rooms of 4, 4, 6, 6, and is a short walk from the Sligachan Hotel which has a restaurant, 2 bars, a climing museum and micro brewery.
The date is just prior to the midge season, and Skye has a wonderful mix of landscapes to explore from the challenging traverse of the Cuillin Ridge with its 12 Munro’s a multitude of Scrambling & Rock Climbing, home to the Inaccessible Pinacle 2 Corbetts, Rock climbing, Sea Cliff Climbing, Trotternish Ridge The Quirang and Old Man of Storr), McLouds Tables, Kilt Rock, Sea Stacks etc. There are also plenty of other less demanding excursions such as Rassay, Rubha Hunish and Coastguard lookout Bothy, distilleries etc.
Some are planning on going to the North West Highlands, some may choose to stay on Skye after the Bank Holiday Weekend, the choice is yours. Any additional accommodation required after the Bank Holiday is your own responsibility as is the transportation arrangement. |
