Come and find us any Thursday night at the The Fox Inn on Holgate Road. Here's a map to help you find your way. We meet at 10pm after a trip to either the Leeds Wall or a local crag.

Please ASK at the bar if you can't work out who we are!

Local Crags

Check out the UKC crag database but the best crags locally have to be Almscliff and Brimham. Caley and Ilkley also have some good routes but for bouldering Slipstonesis another good venue. Check out the meets reports page for our opinions.

Local Walls

York - Oaklands sports centre has an active climbing wall with a good variety of routes that are changed regularly.

Leeds - The Leeds Wall is a large indoor climbing centre that can be reached from York in around fourty minutes.

Hull - Rock City is another large indoor wall that is easily accessable from York.
YorkMC members receive free membership, worth £10, to Rockcity and a 10% discount at the shop on production of a valid membership card.

Sheffield - The Foundry and Edge climbing centres are only an hours drive from York.
YorkMC members receive a £1 discount on entry to the Foundry when climbing in groups of six or more and a 10% discount at CragX on production of a valid membership card.

First Aid

There is no substitute for processional First Aid training, but if your wondering about what you might have to do in an emergency then this is the page for you. Rather than telling you how to treat an injured person this page explains how to deal with an emergency with some useful lifesaving tips!

BMC Affiliation

YorkMC members are automatically given British Mountaineering Club membership. The BMC is the organisation which represents climbers and mountaineers in England and Wales. Members can obtain travel inurance for mountaineering and other benefits. Members are also entitled to discounts on a range of services, publications and retail goods.

Liability Insurance

All members of the BMC currently recieve publicliability insurance. Individual members are also covered by personal accident isurance. It is possible to upgrade to individual membership for a reduced fee if you have paid your membership for YorkMC.
