P.S. from Tracey:

A Ben Vorlich Quickie

On the last day of the ‘Big YMC Winter Weekend’ in February, there were tired limbs, frost-nipped toes (yes, honestly), wet clothes, cars packed with gear and a blue, sunny sky so….having endured a bit of an epic on Aonoch Mor the day before, myself, Tenk and Howard set off up Ben Vorlich ‘the quick way’ to end the weekend on a high.

Leaving Simon, John, Rob and Andy in the café on the Loch Lomond to drink lots of coffee and recuperate from their adventures, we set off up the path to a dam and then headed straight up the (very steep and pathless) hillside.  After a bit of a slog and a few grateful rests on welcome rocks, we arrived on the summit ridge and made our way over hard frozen snow and rocky outcrops to the summit itself.

We were rewarded with truly fabulous views, an icy wind and feeling of being very glad we had made the effort!

A quick descent down a well trodden path and a wriggle through a drainage pipe later (don’t ask!) we arrived back at the cars and found the lads still drinking coffee but I’m very glad they were because I promptly fell asleep in the car and let Simon and John drive me home – many thanks guys!
